K & F were invited to a wedding in a community where they have been ministering lately. A young man, whom they have been discipling, shared boldly with the H**du guests.
The Lord brought K & F to a sari shop on the east coast of the island in a strong H**du town to start discipleship with a new believer.
A friend of K & F invited them to share with a doctor who was open to spiritual conversation. This meeting turned into weeping repentance as she placed her faith in Jesus.
Will you pray for K & F as they go into spiritually dark areas where the Gospel has yet to go?
- Pray for strength and stamina
- Pray against spiritual opposition
- Pray for them as they enter the last trimester of pregnancy for F
- Pray against discouragement as they encounter obstacles
*Burt and *Belinda have been working full-time in Kingdom work for the past twelve months. They are leaders in the work on the island. They have baptized numerous people, and they are currently leading two house churches. They disciple 10 people regularly and have participated in most of our SWARMS. We have loved seeing God change their hearts to be busy in broken and lost communities. They are faithful to share the Gospel to their family, neighbors and in communities where many people will not go because of the crime and drugs.
They have found creative ways to maintain their livelihood, while at the same time dedicating much time in the Kingdom work on the island. One of the creative businesses they run from their home is “Nature’s Creation”. They make natural, orgainc soap in their living room. *Belinda grows and uses plants, flowers and herbs from her garden (and sometimes ours) and she and her husband use all natural ingredients to make this incredible soap.
*Belinda is also an amazing cook and we regularly order food from her when we have fellowships, CORE meetings and leadership trainings.
They have been a blessing to us in ministry! Will you pray for them?
- Pray for setbacks as they work in many broken communities and have experienced personal hurts while helping people whom they are ministering.
- Pray for their livelihood. Pray that God would continue to sustain them and provide for them so that they can continue in the Four Fields work on the island.
- Pray that they would continue to trust in Him and walk through each door He opens, trusting that God will be honored and glorified in all that they do.
- Pray that they would remain faithful, fruitful & obedient!
Frank: The Taxi Driver/Disciple-Maker
Frank* makes a living for his family driving a taxi. He starts early and finishes late but shares Jesus with his clients on a daily basis. He and his family have led neighbors to Christ, planted a church in their home and are planting a second church in his sister-in-laws neighborhood. They also care for a 3 year-old whom they rescued from the street (literally).
One astounding fact is that a car here costs the same or more than the equivalent car in the west, yet a taxi fare is a fraction of the cost that it would be there. The math does not add up. When you visit, you notice immediately the great number of taxis and buses and that adds a lot of competition to Frank’s* already demanding and underpaid career.
Please pray for Frank* as he works out how to create a unique point of difference in his service, that makes him different to the competition. On a spiritual front, pray for Frank* to find a healthy balance between work, family and ministry. Pray that Frank* would continue to be a faithful and bold disciple of Jesus and use his work as his platform to share Christ!
For two years God was telling us to start a church in our home for the purpose of modeling the Acts 2 church model. We resisted wondering if it was putting too much dependence on us, as outsiders. Finally in October 2015 we started a church meeting in our home. The name of the church group became “The Refuge” and it continues until today.
We spent all of 2016 modeling healthy church and took the group through the books of Acts. It was very basic teachings with emphasis placed on simple obedience. Our structure has been much different than traditional church meetings and the “Three-Thirds Process” became the structure of each meeting where we would spend time together in fellowship, pastoral care, prayer, small group accountability, vision casting, learning the new lesson and goal setting with prayer. (Look back, Look Up & Look Ahead). 2016 was a growing year for us as we saw individuals get stronger in the faith and in evangelism & discipleship. Every believer in the group is considered an active disciple with a role in Kingdom work.
2017 has looked much the same in regards to individuals growing deeper, but we’ve also seen a shift where churches are being birthed out of this initial church plant. It’s been exciting to see this evolution take place since our goal is to have a healthy church in every village here! In 2015, we envisioned this to be the role of The Refuge as we started, but it was obvious that this would be a gradual process initially. The group is thinking multiplication now and that has encouraged us. Sometimes a church group meets on a different night of the week so the church will come to join The Refuge meeting on Sunday night. This has been a perfect time for accountability, training and follow-up conversations.
We praise the Lord for how He has taught us to just obey even if we have doubts about how things will turn out.
Please Pray for The Refuge as it has become a training center for multiple leaders and church groups. We get constant feedback each day from people being impacted and challenged. Please pray for the new church plants on the island… House of Prayer, Amazing Grace, & House of Faith to name a few.
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin! Zechariah 4:10a
Until There is No Place Left!
It has been five years this month that we have implemented the Four Fields Training Process into our work/ministry. We have learned so much, but one thing that keeps amazing us is the impacts of “Vision Castings” and “Trainings”. Often when we meet someone who has come to faith and hear their stories, we are amazed by how many people were involved as we ask questions about how they heard the story of Jesus. I realized this Sunday night as I was praying with a 15 year-old girl after our church meeting. She told me that she had shared the “Two Kingdoms” Gospel presentation to three of her classmates. One of her friends did accept Christ and she has been discipling her since that time. I asked her how she came to know that particular Gospel presentation. She told me the girl’s name who trained her. The girl who taught her is about 17 years-old and she was discipled/trained by a couple whom we had discipled/trained and we were trained by someone else. It always amazes us when we hear how the Holy Spirit impacts far-reaching people through trainings. It reminds me how important it is to make the most of every opportunity to vision cast and train believers and never underestimate the power of Holy Spirit to spread the message.
This morning I woke up to pictures of four baptisms on a What’s App group. (one is attached). The youth who had led
Two Youth Baptize Another Youth
these young people to the Lord where also trained by the same couple whom we had trained previously.
Our prayer is the Lord would continue to spread His message of salvation until all 200+ villages hear and have an opportunity to accept. May we be faithful ambassadors.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Matthew 28:19
A Testimony from a National Believer
“The Lord is revealing himself in a big way. Three weeks ago (I) sensed the Lord was telling (me) to call one of (my) former employees, *Ashley, who I lost contact with for three years. I felt the Lord was telling me to tell her “My Story” and “The Gospel”. I had met Jesus during the same period that we lost contact.
So I called her and met with her down in the South. I shared with her and she was so excited about Jesus because she met Him about the same time as me but she was sad because she didn’t feel that she could fit into the local church because of bad teaching, mainly prosperity gospel. Of course, I had to ask her the “three questions” as she was so thirsty for the Word: when and where can we meet, and who will you invite?
She gathered about 12 people in her mother’s modest hindu home a week later and two people gave their lives to Jesus and there were also many “yellow lights” (people who are hesitant to accept the teaching of the Bible and/or Jesus). The week after, we started to teach them about obedience to Jesus Christ and they accepted Jesus and were baptised that same week.
From the public baptism at a local beach, a cleaning lady (hindu) from the public toilet saw the baptism and was compelled to know more. So she asked *Ashley about what was happening. Even as an immature believer, *Ashley began to share her faith for the first time and asked the “three questions”. Now the cleaning lady is open for more. (I) was so humbled by the power of the Holy Spirit, at that moment, in the life of *Ashley.
Please join (us) in prayer for many more laborers like *Ashley.”
Pray for trainers who instill immediately in the DNA of a new believer the command of Christ: “Therefore GO and Make Disciples”! We are so excited as we see the simple commands of Christ obeyed and the fruit that emanates as a result.
A young local girl in her twenties had been in church her whole life. Her father is a pastor of a local church. She did a lot of service work for Christ and the church. She assumed that because she was brought up in the church and was always surrounded by christianity, that she too had a personal relationship with Jesus.
A national partner was training a group of people a set of lessons in T4T/Four Fields. These lessons teach Christians how to become disciples of Jesus Christ and not merely church-goers. This young girl was a part of this training. During this training, she realized that she was not a disciple and had actually never surrendered her life to Christ. She had experienced no personal encounter with Christ and was lost. She gave her life to Christ during this church training and was soon baptized.
We are learning everyday not to make assumptions about where people are spiritually even if they are in the church. We should always consider that the harvest could be within the church. Praise God that this young girl had an opportunity to learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ and have a personal relationship with Him and that going to church does not save us.
Pray that God’s power would equip and empower leaders/trainers on the island to boldly profess His Word to the church and to the lost world around them. Pray that we would have discernment and risk offending people for the sake of their salvation and the Kingdom. Pray that the church would build HIS kingdom and not their own kingdom. Pray that, as believers, we would put His commands above traditions and what is considered the “norm”.
Our team and national believers often partner with churches by, not only training their churches in the “Four Fields/T4T Process”, but also by “SWARMING” (mass seed-sowing) the community where the local church is located. The strategy behind this is to get open doors into “Houses of Peace” (HOPS) where there are lost people in order to present them with the Gospel and also to create “Discipleship Groups” (DGs) in order to train & disciple believers in homes where there are believers. We did just this in May in Daisy Mountain Town * and there was amazing response! The responsibility for follow-up is the local church’s; however, the local church has not done a good job of following up and our hearts are breaking for the town. One worker was able to start a House of Peace in this area, thanks to God, and two people are now believers, Praise Him! Each week she and a local believer are discipling them in their home. Two other workers have committed to going back into this area each Saturday to find HOPS and DGs. Each week we seem to feel hopeful, yet we are finding this area without a hunger for spiritual food. We are also getting ready to “plant” a national leader and his wife in this area in October. Please pray for Amos* and his wife Hannah* as they prepare to proclaim HIM in this area! Please also pray for the following requests:
• Please pray that the church would be willing to leave the comforts of their walls and go into poor, broken, homes where there is alcohol and drug abuse and hopelessness. There are so many open doors, yet, the church is not willing to go through them.
• Pray that God would put the burden of lostness on the church in that area.
• Pray that the God would raise up believers in this area who are zealous to reach their community.
• Pray for the leadership of the pastor…that he would lead the flock to reach their community.
We are seeing weekly baptisms in other areas in our country! PTL! Please pray that God’s Spirit would move in
Daisy Mountain Town*!
Will you pray for John and his wife, Cindy, as they continue to train the 4 churches that have started as a result of receiving T4T training. These two faithful servants have a passion to see their community, and our island, saturated with the Gospel.
Just over a week ago they distributed Bibles and Jesus film DVDs to more than 300 homes. Pray for them and their team as they follow up with these homes, share the Gospel, and find Houses of Peace. The team have been well trained to follow up with discipleship training and to establish churches in homes.
Also pray as we join them in ministering the love of Christ in a very poor community. This community is made up of metal shacks with dirt floors and no running water or electricity. The local police even avoid this community.
“Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” Psalms 55:17
In a few months a number of us that will gather for several days. We will be studying God’s Word, worshiping Him and spending time in prayer, individually and together. We are going to specifically be praying for the Sub-Saharan African Peoples. Our theme is “Return to Me”. Will you join me in praying for this Prayer Forum as we desire to draw near to the Father, interceding on behalf of the lost, that their hearts would be open to the Gospel, that their ears would be open to the Truth?
- Pray for the Lord to blow the winds of His Spirit in our churches/ministries, bringing new life and vitality to believers and ministries.
- Ask the Father to give our churches a hunger to encounter Him in a new and fresh way through prayer.
- Pray that the Lord will give us an urgent heart to prioritize prayer for revival in our lives.
