Recently some of our missionaries visited a new “squatter camp” called Killarny, which is located just outside the beautiful suburbs of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. A “squatter camp” is what is known as a settlement with shacks made of wood, cardboard, tin and other scrap material, where whole families live in a single shack, the size of a garden shed. Most of these people have come from all over Zimbabwe in hope of a better life near the city, and hopefully a job. These few missionaries, along with the partnership of the local Baptist Church, went into this settlement in order to do a “food distribution” to those who are starving. We gave out mealie meal, oil, salt, soy products, beans and tuna chunks. But even more important we went in with the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Most of the 150 people were only hoping to get some nourishment, but we also fed them the word of God, and gave them the hope of salvation which only comes from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Will you pray for Killarny, and for the local church who is reaching out to them, that much fruit would come from the teaching times in this community? The “harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few…so pray” says Luke 10:2. Pray that many would come into God’s Kingdom through the outreach in this community.
In just 5 days a very exciting event is beginning in the city of Pretoria, South Africa. Proverbs 27:17 says: “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” – and for the next 5 days 70 leaders from all over Africa will gather for a “sharpening” time. During this week we will all participate in what we call a “SWARM”, which is when we all enter an area, walking down the streets of downtown, two by two, sharing “My Story” (our testimonies) and “His Story” the Gospel with those we encounter. Is it any coincidence that there are 70 missionaries due to attend, and in Luke 10:2 it talks about “70”?! This SWARM event is an opportunity for the participants to find God Prepared People (GPP), and Houses of Peace (HOP). Please pray now for this very important meeting, also pray throughout the next month that much fruit would result from this teaching time.
“Satan dreads nothing but prayer. His one concern is to keep the saints from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, he mocks our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.” (Samuel Chadwick)
This is the month that a brand new discipleship group begins in a Pretoria home! This group will be training men and women on how to be a disciple who makes disciples! Already much spiritual warfare has been experienced by those preparing for this training. Ephesians 6 tells us clearly that we “wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”. Therefore, we are commanded to put on our spiritual armor each and every day, and to “pray always” (Ephesians 6:18) for each other.
Will you do this now? Satan is working overtime to stop this teaching from beginning. Pray now for this group, that God would strengthen them and establish them for His glory. Pray for their protection from the schemes of Satan. Ask God to use this group to bring much fruit for God’s kingdom.
Sarah* is a 31 year old Muslim lady! She loves life, loves family, but longs to be a mother. She has tried over and over to have a child, but every time miscarries and has lost hope. An IMB missionary woman met her in 2012 and they soon became good friends. Since then many have heard about Sarah* and have prayed for her to know the true God, Jesus Christ, and for her to conceive and have a child. Sarah* has been given an Urdu Bible (Urdu is her heart language), and has begun to read it for herself.
This is the month of Ramadan and Sarah* is devoted to seeking Allah for his blessing and favor on her. Will you join others in praying that Sarah* would have an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ during this time? Many Muslims have dreams or visions during this season. Will you join in and pray for her to have a dream or encounter with the ‘Man in white’, and for her to realize that Jesus is the one true God. Pray also for the miracle of conception; that if God chooses to bless Sarah* with a child that she would then turn to Him for salvation.
There is a family preparing to enter the city of Pretoria soon. They plan to enter the new fields of people like a “mustard seed”. The Parable of the Mustard seed found in Matthew 13:31-33 says that the mustard seed is “the least of all the seeds, but when it is grown it becomes a tree”. Will you join them in praying that as they enter this new city with the seed of the gospel, that even though it may seem small, and their work insignificant, that the gospel would spread throughout the whole city, and that it would become a huge tree of life to all in this area?
Thank you for your constant prayers concerning the work visa approval for the family entering Pretoria, South Africa! God has answered these prayers, and this family has been granted a 5-year approval! Take Your glory Lord!!
Will you now pray for them as they seek the Lord as to WHERE they will live? They want to live in the precise location which God has purposed for them. Pray also as this family prepares to enter this new field of ministry – that God would prepare the fields for the gospel.
There is a family preparing to enter the city of Pretoria in the very near future. At exactly 10:02 am every day they stop whatever they are doing and they pray the prayer from Luke 10:2. Will you join them this month in praying this prayer? Here is what they pray: “Father -You said that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few,and that we must ask You, the Lord of the harvest, to sent out workers into the harvest field. So, Lord send out workers into Pretoria so that the harvest can be reaped for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray in the Model Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13, He began with telling them to pray: “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We have a new missionary team going into the city of Pretoria where they will begin to enter new fields with the Gospel. Will you join them in praying this prayer? “Lord – may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done in Pretoria as it is in heaven. Father God, guide this team into the segments of the city where you want them to begin sharing the Gospel. Fulfill this verse in the city of Pretoria, and do it for Your glory. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.” Read the rest of this entry
We needed a new craft for the youth group that met at Happiness’ house twice a week. Maybe I can teach them to sew, I thought! I was SO surprised when we started the lesson – – most all the Pedi youth (girls AND boys!) already knew how to sew…and some of them were quite good at some very difficult stitches! Each youth pushed the needles in and out, in and out of the washcloths. They were sewing the washcloths into pockets that would hold a bar of soap. As each Pedi student completed their sewing task, they were given a new bar of soap to tuck inside their washcloth pocket. The sun was setting and it seemed the dust was rising when they finished sewing. The 67 youth and children sat in their chairs and listened intently as I reviewed the stories we were learning on the storying cloth. Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, Abraham…. The seeds of truth told through the pictures on this “Bible cloth” were planted again into their hearts. Pray that the evil one will not come and snatch away the seeds sown in their hearts. (Matthew 13:19). Pray that these Word-seeds will be sown into fertile heart-soil. Pray for the youth to hear and understand the Word and to produce a crop a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown (Matthew 13:23) God calls us each to ministry that is not just “so-so.” God calls us to more than just teaching youth a practical skill like sewing. God calls us to sow seeds of truth into the lives of everyone around us so that they will, in turn, sow into the lives of all those around them! God can do SO-SO much more than we can ever hope or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20). Ask Him to do it among the Pedi youth!
Thank you for praying for the team from New Song Baptist Church. The team was comprised of six Korean/Americans, one Virginian and one South African pastor. 50-75 persons received training on witnessing and how to share their personal testimony. There were many witnessing opportunities with church leaders and church members excited to participate. There were decisions for Christ and a revived spirit in the Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Sealane Village. One of the church leaders remarked “that Satan had take their joy of evangelism and that they needed to take it back.” The local pastor was absolutely thrilled by the results and looks forward to the ongoing partnership. There are hundreds if not thousands of villages throughout Sekhukhuneland (South Africa). Now there is a vision to plant churches in Ga Selepi, Ga Phasa, Marchabella, and Ga Mahopa and leaders have been identified and designated for three of those 4 villages. Please continue to pray for revival to spread among the Sekhukhune BaPedi of Northern South Africa.
